An Erie County woman is facing felony charges after deputies say she was drunk when she crashed an ATV with two young children onboard.
Livingston County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of an ATV crash involving children at the intersection of Groveland Hill Road and Vanbuskirk Road in the Town of Groveland on Wednesday around 6:15 p.m.
Deputies say that 51-year-old Sheryl Palermo, of Tonawanda, was driving the ATV on Vanbuskirk Road with two children passengers, ages 8 and 10.
Palermo was speeding and failed to navigate the T-intersection of Groveland Hill Road, crossing over the road and crashing into a ditch, according to deputies, and the riders fell from the ATV at that point.
No one was injured in the crash.
As a result of a DWI investigation, Palermo was arrested and charged with felony DWI, felony aggravated DWI with a passenger less than 16 years old, felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of reckless endangerment, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and multiple vehicle and traffic violations.
Palermo was previously convicted of DWI and had a revoked driver's license due to an alcohol-related conviction.
She was arraigned and remanded to the Livingston County Jail.
