ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — News10NBC is honoring a 10th grader from the School of the Arts.

Meet Gianna Potter, our latest Do the Right Thing award winner.

Gianna was nominated by a woman who was hit by a car in February. The woman said that without hesitation, Gianna ran up to her and offered comfort and assistance as the woman was injured and bleeding.

Gianna called 911 and stayed with the woman until first responders arrived. She continued to help the woman stay calm and ensured her that she had all her personal belongings.

"I thought I was going to miss my bus for school and then I just saw a lady crossing the street and I just saw a man hit her and I saw her rolling and tumbling," Gianna said. "I was so scared. I think people should get right into action and not think twice."

The woman was so grateful for Gianna's presence during such a traumatic moment.  The woman nominated Gianna as a token of gratitude.

Congratulations, Gianna!
