ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — News10NBC's latest Do the Right Thing award winner is a 7th grader from the School of the Arts.

Meet Brandon Murrell.

In January, Rochester police officers responded to Brandon's home for an unresponsive woman. Dispatchers told officers that the caller was very upset, but was following directions to help the victim.

Turns out, Brandon was the 911 caller.
"I didn't want to see my mom like that, I knew something was wrong with her and I had to do something to make it right," Brandon said. "She said she was very proud of me for helping even though she was in that condition at the time."

Brandon's swift actions and ability to remain calm under a very stressful situation ultimately saved his mother's life.

Way to go, Brandon!
