ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) - It is time for our latest Do the Right Thing award winners.

News10NBC got to speak with Colton Madsen. He's a 10th grader from Gates Chili High School. On Easter Sunday, Colton and his friend Ethan Routly were riding their bikes at the Charlotte Pier.

When the boys stopped to rest, they saw a distraught woman go to the end of the pier and cross over to the water side of the ropes. She was crying and said she was going to jump.

Colton immediately went to her. He talked to her and caused a distraction while Ethan called 911.

First responders arrived and the woman was taken to the hospital for care.

"I asked her about her kids and her grandkids, just trying to get her to think about her family and stuff like that and her friends. That seemed to work and I got her talking and distracted her a little bit," said Colton.

Colton and Ethan's quick actions and excellent teamwork brought a positive resolution to a very stressful situation.

Way to go guys!
