ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — News10NBC is celebrating the latest winner of this semester's “do the right thing” award. Meet Ella Pendry from Johanna Perrin Middle School in Fairport.

Ella's school counselor nominated her for helping a stranger in need. While Ella was on the Canal Path near the village of Fairport, she witnessed an 84-year-old gentleman crash his bicycle after an animal ran out in front of him. Several people were nearby and witnessed this event, yet Ella was the only one to stop and come to his aid. Her social studies teacher said that Ella has a great moral compass.
