Based on witness statements, deputies say that Morris' Chevy Caprice was seen swerving as it traveled west on West Ridge Road before leaving the north shoulder of the roadway in an abrupt fashion and crashed through the sign at the Canal View Auto Sales location before striking the utility pole. The collision caused the vehicle to overturn and rest on its roof, while the fallen pole knocked out the power along a stretch of Ridge Road.

Morris was removed from the vehicle and brought to a local hospital, where he was arrested for DWI.

Power has been restored in the area.
