UPDATE: Man identified in deadly Penfield crash

A man killed in a two-vehicle crash in Penfield Friday morning has been identified as 33-year-old Jason Covey of Williamson.

Just after 7 a.m., deputies responded to the crash on Rt. 441 (Penfield Road) between Salt Road and Harris Road.

Deputies say the driver of a minivan, traveling eastbound on Rt. 441, swerved into the westbound lane of Rt.441, striking a pickup truck.

Both drivers were extricated from their vehicles. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Covey, the driver of the pickup truck was taken to Strong Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the minivan was taken to Rochester General Hospital for precautionary measures.

The family of the deceased man has been notified, according to deputies. The identities of the drivers have not yet been released. 

No word on any charges, if any, at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
