Former teacher accused of having sexual contact with teen

SENECA FALLS, N.Y. (WHEC) — A former teacher is facing charges after she allegedly had sexual contact with an underage teenager.

State police arrested 29-year-old Lindsey Halstead, of East Bloomfield, on charges of sexual misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child. Troopers say she had sexual contact with a 16-year-old in Seneca Falls. Investigators did not specify when the alleged incident happened.


Halstead was a teacher with the Waterloo Central School District from Sept. 1, 2014 to Feb. 2, 2018, Superintendent Terri Bavis said in a statement posted on the district’s website

She then worked for the Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District as a long-term substitute teacher from Feb 5., 2018 to April 26, 2019, according to a statement from Superintendent Matthew Sickles.

Troopers say the investigating is ongoing and additional charges are pending. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact state police in Waterloo at (315) 539-3530.

Halstead is in the Seneca County Jail awaiting arraignment.
