ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — East High has filed an appeal to get one of the best high school football players in the state back on the field.
Junior Seven McGee did not take the field last Friday after the New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s (NYSPHSAA) Section V Football ruled he was ineligible this season because he transferred back to East High from a school in California within the last six months.
Section V rules indicate a student must be a resident of New York for six months to be eligible to play sports.
Kathy Hoyt, executive director of Section V, told News10NBC that she expects Section V to meet this week to review the appeal.
McGee has already committed to play for the University of Oregon. ESPN ranks him as the top player in New York's class of 2021.
