The East Irondequoit Board of Education named their interim superintendent Friday.
Mary Grow will fill the vacancy created by Susan Allen who is the current superintendent of the East Irondequoit Central School District.
Allen announced her retirement in early October which will take effect on Jan 1, 2019.
Allen has been with the district since 2005, making her one of the longest-serving superintendents in Monroe County.
Grow has been working as the assistant superintendent of the district since 2015. "I'm very excited at the opportunity the board has given me," Grow said. "I'm looking forward to working with, and for, the staff, students and community to continue making East Irondequoit a great place to learn, work and live."
