Ethics Committee ramping up Collins investigation

September 07, 2018 09:19 AM

The House Ethics Committee has voted to set up a special investigative subcommittee to review the insider trading accusations against Congressman Chris Collins.

Collins suspended his campaign last month, but if he's re-elected to his seat, the Ethics Committee could remove him from the House once the federal case against him is complete.

The Ethics Committee has agreed to delay any work on the investigation until the end of the federal case.

Meanwhile, the deadline to replace Collins on the ballot is Sept. 21.

GOP leaders are still working to select a replacement after primary on Sept. 13.
