Ethics experts call for new reforms to hold elected officials accountable

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WHEC) — The House Ethics Committee is renewing its push to hold elected officials accountable.

A new bipartisan task force has been formed to develop new ethics rules for lawmakers.

The move comes after the arrest of Congressman Chris Collins. He is facing felony insider trading charges.

Investigators say he sat on the board of a publicly traded company and used inside information to dump shares of stocks.

The task force will draw up further rules limiting outside positions lawmakers can hold.
