ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — About 24,000 SUNY and CUNY students are using New York's Excelsior Scholarship in its second year, an increase from 20,000 in 2018-19.

New York State says that that is a 20% increase in Excelsior Scholarships in the second year of the program.

The Excelsior Scholarship is the program that gives qualifying New York students free tuition to state colleges. For the 2019-20 academic year, New Yorkers with household incomes up to $125,000 are eligible.
