ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— A fourth stimulus check is on the way! That’s the claim, but is it true or wishful thinking? News10NBC’s Nikki Rudd has a fact check.

First, it was the $1,200 payment in the early days of the pandemic (April 2020). Then it was $600 in January of this year, and another relief payment ($1,400) in March from the American Rescue Plan. So what’s next?

There has been a lot of talk in Congress. Some lawmakers have requested recurring direct payments as our economy recovers. Maybe as much as $2,000 a month!

Back in May, the House Ways and Means Committee pushed for more stimulus saying it could keep millions of people out of poverty.
However, right now, the American Jobs Plan and the American Families Plan do not include more cash coming to your bank account. Instead, President Biden’s focus has been on infrastructure and getting people back to work.

So if you heard you were getting a fourth stimulus check, at this point, that is false.

The IRS is paying out money as part of the revised Child Tax Credit. Monthly payments started July 15th and continue through December. You could get $3,000 to $3,600 depending on your child’s age and your income.
