Critics are calling Equifax's response to the data breach a mess.
Another cringe-worthy example of the company's mistakes came out this week. A new report claims some Equifax customer service agents have been directing its data breach victims to a fake phishing site. And it's been happening for weeks!
Equifax set up a website in response to the hack that compromised the information of 143 million Americans. The website allows possible victims to verify whether you are affected.
But, according to the Verge, some Equifax customer service workers have mistakenly been directing people to a misspelled phishing website since September 9.
The creator of the fake website tells the Verge he set it up in order to expose vulnerabilities on Equifax's response page and the website is not malicious.
