CHILI, N.Y. (WHEC)- The windstorm had already caused significant damage in Chili on Sunday, knocking over trees and forcing Roberts Wesleyan College to cancel morning classes for Monday.
However, efforts were already underway to clean up. Crews could be seen working to cut the power to wires on Chili Avenue so that they they could remove the down tree, which fell around 3 p.m.
Some neighbors were left in the dark waiting for power to restored, while others were running generators.
"We had sun, we had rain, we had wind, and I was like... what's next?" says Bevery Iachatta, who lives nearby.
"I come in and sit down, and the TV was on, I picked up a book to start reading and boom it was awful quiet in the house."
Crews on the scene did not yet have an estimate on how long the clean-up will take.
