NEW YORK (AP) -- The Republican who lost the 2018 New York U.S. Senate race to Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand announced plans to run for Congress again in 2020.

Chele Farley will challenge Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney in New York's 18th Congressional District.

Maloney unsuccessfully ran in the Democratic primary for New York attorney general in 2018. He then ran to keep his seat in the House of Representatives.

In a tweet, Farley said that the Hudson Valley needs a new voice in Washington.

"Maloney has embraced Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal," Farley tweeted. "Their $93 trillion plan cost every NY family $600,000.  I’ll fight to stop this wave of socialism."
