The Genesee County Sheriff's Office confirmed a fatal two-vehicle accident that happened last night, just after six, at the intersection of State Route 33 and Wortendyke Road.

Deputies said that Lauren D. Power of Scotch Pines, N.J. was the driver of a 2016 Honda Pilot and was traveling south on Wortendyke Road. Irene B. Cichocki of Medina, N.Y. was the driver of a 2018 Kia Sportage and was traveling west on Route 33.

Power failed to heed the stop sign at the intersection, hitting Cichocki's Kia on the passenger side. The momentum of the Pilot's impact caused both vehicles to overturn several times, stopping finally in the front yard of a private home.

Officials from the Genesee County Coroner's Office at the scene determined Cichocki to be deceased.

Three other individuals were traveling with Power in her Honda Pilot at the time of the accident: Marianna D. Ban of Hamlin, N.Y.; Sophia E. Buono of Rochester, N.Y. and Justin R. Barnard, also of Rochester, N.Y. All three passengers were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The accident is still under investigation by the Genesee County Sheriff's Office and a ticket for failure to stop was issued to Power. Investigators have eliminated alcohol and drug use as contributing factors to this accident.
