Rochester toddler clings to life after being shot

A Rochester toddler continues to cling to life after being shot in his west side home Friday. Two-year old Zayden Phillips is in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital. Police have charged his father, Charles Phillips with shooting the child.

The 36-year old Phillips was arraigned Saturday on charges of first degree assault and second degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Phillips is being held in the Monroe County jail without bail. Phillips was not eligible for bail because he has two previous felony convictions.

Phillips will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on October 26. 

The District Attorney's office is referring the case to a grand jury.
