ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) —?????? It'll be a big weekend in Rochester, with the Rochester Marathon set to take place.
Final preparations are underway, and runners can now pick up their registration packets. They'll be available Friday until 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In addition, anyone can check out the Marathon Expo that has gotten underway at the gallery next to Fleet Fleet on Culver Road.
Even if you're not running, though, you can still participate as a supporter in the crowd. Several neighborhoods are taking part, and the group with the best fans as voted by the runners will win money for a beautification project for their neighborhood.
There are plenty of great locations along the course to watch from, says an organizer.
"Maplewood Park is another remarkable spot to be because the athletes go by there several times, actually twice for the marathon, once for the half, [it's] just a great spot to gather and cheer people along," said race organizer Ellen Brenner-Boutillier.
Spectators can also watch at the finish line at Frontier Field.
The 5K and Kids Race will take place on Saturday, while the full, half, and relay race will be underway at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Even if you aren't going to watch or run, the marathon may still affect you- there will be road closures throughout the weekend.
