BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - The outcome of the New York congressional race between incumbent Republican Chris Collins and Democrat Nate McMurray is expected to become clearer as elections officials in the district's largest county tally the final ballots.
Erie County officials expect to count more than 5,500 absentee ballots, along with more than 1,000 affidavit and emergency ballots on Tuesday. That's about half of all absentee and other ballots cast in the eight western New York counties of the 27th Congressional District.
Collins led by fewer than 3,000 votes on election night.
Currently, McMurray trails the incumbent Collins by roughly 2200 votes.
