ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) —  Say so long to the sunshine that we have had over the last few days, and hello to some clouds, and perhaps a few snow showers for Friday.

High clouds will thicken overnight, becoming overcast by Friday morning, as an impressive storm system spinning off the east coast throws moisture back at us.

Most of the night will be precipitation-free, but a few rain or wet snow showers will try to sneak in from the east by early Friday morning.

This is not a typical direction that our weather comes from, but that large storm to our east will control our weather for Friday. We do expect a few brief rain or wet snow showers early Friday, but they won't last, and they won't accumulate.

Any precipitation ends, but the clouds will stick with us. Friday will be a gloomy day with a bit of a chill, with temperatures holding in the lower to mid-40s.

The good news: We will see a lot of improvement for the weekend! That storm exits the area, and we see a slow clearing back to some sun by Saturday afternoon, and temperatures back in the 50s.

Sunday will feature a slight chance for a few brief showers or sprinkles, but most of the day is dry, and we're in the mid-50s.

We should start off next week on the mild side in the upper 50s and lower 60s, but the trend shows us dropping back into the 40s by late next week.
