The Rochester area is seeing its first snowflakes of the season.
Rain turned to snow as temperatures dropped Thursday night. City and state crews are prepared for any adverse conditions.
"We're ready to go and tonight we are mostly going to be applying salt to keep that ice from forming onto the highway," says Lori Maher with the state DOT.
In the city, Rochester's Department of Environmental Services says it has 7,500 tons of salt on standby along with extra crews ready to deploy.
