Five Star Bank's new initiative aims to help communities

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — There’s a new effort to change and improve neighborhoods across Rochester.

It's called "Progress in Action” a campaign just launched this summer by Five Star Bank.

Five Star president and CEO Marty Birmingham and Senior VP Dugan were guests on Rochester in Focus.

The bank is asking for donations from the community for the initiative. The program will then match every dollar donated up to $50,000 this year.  At a minimum, the bank will contribute $25,000.

The bank has not named any specific programs they plan to create with the funds. Instead, the money will be used in different ways depending on what the neighborhood specifically needs.
