Someone stole food donations intended for a food pantry from the Greece Town Hall, writes town supervisor Bill Reilich.
In a Facebook post, Reilich says Thursday morning someone took donations from a box set up in the atrium and walked out of the town hall.
The donations, which Reilich says were starting to build up, were supposed to go to the Greece Ecumenical Food Shelf.
"I certainly hope that individual is truly in need and if so I'd encourage them to contact the Food Shelf for assistance," Reilich says.
As a result of the theft, Greece will start removing donations on a daily basis, the supervisor says. Reilich used the unfortunate event as an opportunity to plead for donations from the community.
"I know what a caring community Greece is - you've shown your generous support for your neighbors many times this year alone as we were plagued with multiple extreme weather events," he wrote. "I invite you all to join me in helping to support our neighbors in need this Holiday season by stopping by town hall and donating food products so we can be sure those in need can have a wonderful holiday meal."
Anyone who wants to make a donation can bring food to the Greece Town Hall at 1 Vince Tofany Boulevard. More information on the Greece Ecumenical Food Shelf is available here.
