PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WHEC) — A New Jersey man was arrested following a sexual assault investigation at Nazareth College.

Investigators with the Campus Sexual Assault Victims Unit said Kenneth Rea, 20, sexually assaulted another person on campus on May 3.

He was charged with three counts of third-degree sexual abuse, all of which are class B misdemeanors.

Nazareth College officials said Rea is no longer a student at the college.

The college released a statement following Rea's arrest.

"Nazareth College is committed to protecting the safety of our students. In cases like this, we are also committed to the privacy of all parties involved in order to foster an environment where students feel safe to report.

Due to the sensitive and confidential nature of this case, no details will be shared. We offer the assurance that there is no threat to the campus community and we defer to the New York State Police, the lead agency on this investigation."

Rea was arrested by New York State Police on Monday and was released on his own recognizance.

He's due in Pittsford Town Court on Oct. 24 at 5 p.m.
