ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A former newspaper delivery boy is suing a local newspaper under the Child Victims Act.

According to a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Monroe County, the plaintiff claims he was abused by a district manager, Jack Lazeroff.

The alleged victim worked for the Democrat & Chronicle in 1983 when he was between 11 and 12 years old. Lazeroff was responsible for looking over the D&C newspaper delivery routes.

The plaintiff is suing the newspaper and its parent company, Gannett.

The lawsuit claims Lazeroff had unsupervised access to the plaintiff and other young boys, and the paper failed to address sexual abuse, which was allegedly happening in plain sight.

Lazeroff was ultimately fired from the D&C. He was arrested and charged with second-degree sexual abuse in Monroe County in 1988.

News10NBC has reached out to the Democrat & Chronicle and Gannett for comment but have yet to hear back.
