Four firefighters were hurt while fighting a house fire in western New York.
The fire started at a home on Butler Avenue in Buffalo around 9 p.m. Thursday.
The four injured firefighters were taken to Erie County Medical Center with burns, and two also suffered smoke inhalation. Two of the firefighters have since been released from the hospital, NBC affiliate WGRZ reports.
The fire chief spoke about exactly what happened when the firefighters went in.
"It was obviously a hot condition in the attic since we suffered the burns we did," Chief Paul Graham. "Members put the fire out the second floor. they took the lines into the attic, where they were met with tremendous heat. and sustained injuries."
The fire chief says the three people living inside the home made it out safely.
The cause of the is under investigation.
