Fourth of July celebrations in the Rochester area

JULY 4

  • Batavia - Picnic in the Park kicks off at 11 a.m.
  • Brighton - A celebration includes a 5K race, pancake breakfast, music, and fireworks.
  • Canandaigua - Festivities include a parade that begins at 10 a.m., music, and fireworks at 9:45 p.m.
  • Chili - The Chil-E Festival features live music, food trucks, a parade, car show, and fireworks. Festivities start at noon and fireworks are at 10 p.m.
  • City of Rochester - Festivities start at 7:30 p.m. on the Main Street Bridge. Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra performs on the bridge at 9 p.m., followed by fireworks at 10 p.m. Rochester Red Wings hold post-game fireworks at Frontier Field. 
  • Fairport - The Firecracker 4 Mile Race begins at 8 a.m. The parade starts at 10 a.m., and Party in the Park goes from 11 a.m. through 5 p.m. 
  • Geneseo - A ceremony begins at 11 a.m. followed by performances by the Geneseo Cornet Band, a parade, the reading of the Declaration of Independence, and the firing of an anvil several hundred feet into the air.
  • Greece - The celebration starts with a 5K in the morning, then continues in the late afternoon in the parking lot of the Town Hall with activities for kids and adults, then fireworks at dark.
  • Henrietta - A Senior Center community sale starts at 9 a.m. and a celebration is held at Veterans Memorial Park beginning at 4 p.m. Fireworks go off at 9:40 p.m.
  • Irondequoit - Community booths, an arts and crafts show, a parade, and fireworks highlight the two-day festival (July 3 and 4).
  • Lima - A celebration kicks off at Mark Tubbs Park at 6 p.m. with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 26 selling hot dogs and drinks. Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m. 
  • Sodus Point - Events include a parade and an arts and crafts show at the Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum.

JULY 6

A number of streets and bridges will be closed due to the scheduled events including: 

  • Main Street, from St. Paul Street to State Street will be closed to vehicle traffic from 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, to 2 a.m., Thursday, July 5. 
  • Court Street Bridge, from Exchange Blvd to South Avenue, will be closed to vehicle traffic from 7 to 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 4. No parking will be allowed on the bridge anytime on Wednesday, July 4.
  • Broad Street Bridge, from Exchange Blvd to South Ave, will be closed to vehicle traffic from 7 to 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 4. No parking will be allowed on the bridge anytime on Wednesday, July 4.
  • The Frank and Janet Lamb Sister Cities Bridge will be closed from 6 to 11 p.m. and the eastern side of the Genesee Riverway Trail from the Time Warner Cable building to South Avenue will close from 1 to 10:30 p.m. No stopping will be allowed on the Inner Loop or I-490.
