Sen. Gallivan says he will not run for 27 Congressional district

New York State Senator Patrick Gallivan says he is committed to his Senate district, and his family, and will not run for the 27th Congressional district.

He released the following statement Friday afternoon:

“It is my great honor and privilege to represent the citizens of the 59th Senate District who have entrusted me to be their voice in Albany. My commitment to them, to all of the individuals and organizations who have placed their trust in me, my colleagues in the Senate Majority and most importantly my family, take precedent over personal ambition. I will not be a candidate for the 27th Congressional District at this time"

Gallivan was among a long list of possible candidates to replace Rep. Chris Collins.

Collins suspended his campaign after he was arrested for insider trading and lying to the FBI. 

The GOP chairmen hope to have a replacement for Collins next week.
