The PBA of New York State Police Troop E is asking New Yorkers to go blue this Friday in memory of Trooper Nicholas Clark.

Clark, 29, was shot and killed last week while responding to a domestic incident in the town of Erwin, Steuben County. Investigators say the shooter then fatally shot himself.

In a Facebook post, the PBA is asking people to put a blue light bulb in their front porch and share a picture on social media.

"Hopefully it will serve as a reminder to everyone how important Trooper Clark was and that we back the men and women in blue!" the PBA said on its Facebook page.

Before wearing the shield, Clark was a star athlete, winning two state wrestling championships and going on to play college football at Alfred University. He even tried out for the Buffalo Bills before heading to the State Police Academy in 2015.
