ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) -- Bank of America is giving a $250,000 grant to Golisano Children's Hospital for a new pediatric behavioral health and wellness building.
The two-story facility will double the available space for outpatient other services for Golisano's behavioral health program.
The chair of the hospital's pediatric department says it is a necessary addition.
"Behavioral health has become such a huge issue, and in pediatrics and in child health in general, about 40 percent of our visits right now to our general pediatric offices have some component of behavioral health," Golisano Children's Hospital Chair Dr. Patrick Brophy said. "So having a community that is focused and able to help us treat our own kids is so necessary and so phenomenal."
Among the additions coming with the new facility will be a day program for children with special behavioral needs. The goal of the day program is to get children the services they need during the day so that they can stay with their families at night.
