Good Question: What happened to the movie shot in the Rochester area?

September 10, 2018 07:31 AM

It was all the buzz about a year ago. There were some big name Hollywood stars in our area to shoot a movie. But since then, there has been no mention of the film.

So what happened? Pat Taney was asked about that for this week's Good Question report.

Rochester native and award-winning actor John Lithgow was here to shoot a movie in August of 2017.

At the time, several of you sent us photos of Lithgow on location. Crews were seen at a few towns including Lyons in Wayne County and Gates in Monroe County.

Lithgow is starring with Blythe Danner -- Gwenth Paltrow's mom -- and has starred in several big films, including 'Father of the Bride.'

It's been about a year since the cameras stopped rolling.

We were told, back then, that the hope was for a 2018 release but that has not happened.

News10NBC reached back out to the director of the film -- Luke Rivett -- for answers.

"We're getting closer," he said. "The release will likely be early next year and we should have more information on dates around Thanksgiving."

So we'll have to wait a couple more months for more details on an actual release date. As for the title, the director did not respond when we asked him about that.

Gates Town Supervisor Mark Assini told us a year ago the movie was set to be called 'The Tomorrow Man.'
