Several viewers noticed the cameras, they depend on to save time on their commutes, have not been working.
When you go to the traffic page, run by Monroe County, to view the cameras you'll notice many of them are not available.
Some of the cameras are still working but viewers say they're not dependable and it's very spotty!
Months ago, News 10NBC told you about a private company called Traffic Land, based out of Virginia, which provides the web servers to view the cameras.
In return, Traffic Land charges high fees to Television stations to show those cameras on the air. Cameras, which by the way, are maintained with your tax dollars!
Since our report, The county has been working with the New York State Department of Transportation which is developing a new system to view the cameras.
The hope is the new system will be up and running sometime this winter.
As for Traffic Land, A state spokesperson says it is unclear if the company will continue doing business here. When asked if Traffic Land will still be able to cash in on control of the cameras, we were told that "Has yet to be determined."
We will keep you posted.
