ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) - Governor Andrew Cuomo directed New York State Police on Sunday morning to increase patrols and safeguarding of churches and houses of worship across the state following the latest bombing attacks in the island nation of Sri Lanka that killed over 200 and injuring 450 people. 

In a press release, Governor Cuomo expressed deepest condolences "to the people of Sri Lanka, to the families who lost loved ones, and to all those grieveing around the world."

President Donald Trump also expressed "heartfelt condolences to the great people of Sri Lanka" and U.S. readiness to help in a Tweet on Sunday morning.
