It's video of four young women brutally beating a young woman on Roycroft Drive last week. Since the incident, the video, which shows the women punching, kicking and yelling at the victim, has been widely shared.

"I've seen it several times. My staff is also part of the investigation, and each and every time we see it, it provokes a strong reaction," said Rochester Police Capt. Jeff Koehn. "We're disgusted by it."

Koehn says you can't help but feel very strongly about the video.

"We're very concerned about it and I can tell you there is an active investigation that's taken top priority. Fortunately, given its wide publication on social media, there have been a number of people who've come forward and given us valuable information and we're acting upon that," he explained to News10NBC.

News10NBC learned the incident happened at a house in the 100 block of Roycroft Drive and is possibly the result of the victim wanting to leave a gang.

Koehn says the victim has been treated at the hospital and has since been released.

The mayor says investigating this incident is a top priority and she too has received a lot of response from the public.

"We are praying for her and making sure that she is okay and my understanding is that she is," said Mayor Warren. "So we are going to continue to work this case like we do any other case, but I can't thank the community enough for stepping up...sharing the info with us, giving and providing us with details of what happened and who's involved."
