According to police,  a couple of officers were at the mall working security detail. They were alerted to a shoplifting in the American Eagle Outfitters Store.

Two women were seen running from the store. The officers tried to stop them as they fled the scene and one of the officers was run over by the fleeing vehicle.

Police say 24-year-old Gabrielle Thomas of Rochester was the driver. According to police, Thomas did not stop and continued to flee westbound through the lot.

Officers say the vehicle sustained damage from hitting a curb and was disabled at Mitchell Road at the mall exit.  Police say both suspects fled from the vehicle on foot, and Thomas was caught moments later.

Thomas was arrested and charged with robbery, assault, reckless endangerment, petit larceny, and aggravated unlicensed operation.  She was arraigned at Greece Justice Court and was remanded to the Monroe County Jail on bail of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.

The other suspect is still on the loose. Police say the suspect who is still out there is not believed to be dangerous.

The injured officer was taken to Strong Hospital. Police say he is now home resting and is expected to make a full recovery.
