The Greece Police officer involved in the fatal pedestrian-vehicle accident on Saturday night has been placed on paid administrative leave for the next few days.
Greece Police confirmed that Detective Kevin Klump, a law enforcement veteran with over 17 years of experience, was on duty at the time of the accident.
Monroe County Sheriff deputies say the officer hit and killed a woman walking along or in Route 104 while in an unmarked police car in the Town of Parma at around 9 p.m.
The officer remained at the scene, called 911 and gave the woman CPR. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officer was taken to the hospital as a precaution and is said to be cooperating with authorities.
The area of West Ridge Road where the incident occurred is expected to stay closed for several hours.
The investigation is ongoing.
