Report: Noise from traffic could harm your heart

German researchers report that the noise from planes, trains, and automobiles could be harming your heart.

The University Medical Center Mainz study was published in Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

Researchers found noise from traffic actually disrupts cells in the body. Their evidence shows loud sounds trigger a stress response in the nervous system that leads to vascular damage over time.

Experts say better traffic management, low-noise tires, and air traffic curfews could help reduce potentially hazardous noise from traffic.
