Rochester Police shut down several streets on the west side of the city due to an ongoing investigation Friday.
Around 3 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Emerson Street for reports of a gunpoint robbery. Police received information that a gunman was inside a home on Emerson.
Following this report, police had closed off Emerson between Dewey and Fulton Avenue as they investigated.
The closure derailed the normal route for school buses and made it difficult for residents to get home. Residents that were home at the time were told to remain inside until the situation was clear.
However, as of 8 p.m., Emerson Street reopened and the area has been deemed safe.
As the investigation unfolded, police determined that the home was in fact empty. The investigation is still ongoing as police are still speaking with the individual who made the initial report.
News10NBC will continue to update this story on-air and online as more information becomes available.
