ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Winter has returned to the area. Wet, slushy snow and gusty wind may cause isolated power outages this evening and into Sunday.
Even though the wind will be gusty, the weight of the snow will prohibit the snow from drifting. This heavy snow is difficult to shovel and brush off cars. The area wide snow will taper by midnight.
Winter weather advisories are posted for Monroe, Ontario, Livingston, Orleans, and Genesee counties Saturday afternoon through midnight, and a winter storm warning for Wyoming County.
Roads are becoming snow covered and travel is tricky this evening.
On Sunday, we will see some minor lake effect snow showers as the colder air moves over the warmer lake waters. No significant accumulations are expected on Sunday.
