A Henrietta man is facing charges after police say he called 911 and reported a false incident.

Gates Police say 34-year-old Jason Edwards of Henrietta called 911, claiming to be someone else. During the 911 call, police say Edwards claimed to be locked in a bathroom at a motel on Buffalo Road. Edwards said that he was being robbed by someone with a knife, according to police.

Gates Police responded and say they surrounded the motel, taking several people out of the room. Following an investigation, police say they discovered that Edwards had placed the 911 call from another location, knowing he was giving false information. According to police, Edwards made the 911 call because he knew someone in the room and wanted to know who they were with.

Edwards was arrested on Sunday and charged with falsely reporting an incident. He will appear in Gates Court on Dec. 5.
