ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — In a few days, the country will come together to remember the lives lost in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Wednesday morning, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul made a stop in New York City at the 9/11 memorial.

There, she and former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg paid tribute and reflected ahead of the 20th anniversary on Saturday.

The governor called New Yorkers resilient following the terrorist attacks and also in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I wanted to come to this site for reflection, to pay tribute to those lives we lost,” Hochul said. “To thank the first responders who survived and now addressing, dealing with illnesses and all the people of New York who showed what true grit, resilience is all about."

Saturday the president and the first lady will travel to New York City for the 9/11 event at Ground Zero.
