ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Recreational pot has been legal in New York for more than a month now, but there's still some confusion surrounding who can smoke it, without risking their job.

News10NBC took an In-Depth look.

First and foremost, if you are a federal employee, marijuana is off-limits. This includes postal workers and federal court workers because it's still not legal at the federal level.

But what about State Police, or those at VA medical centers? It's a no for them too, for the exact same reason.

Where things get blurry is non-federal employees like teachers. The State United Teachers union says as long as it doesn't impact their ability to teach it's okay. However, some districts are still looking into it.
