ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The income threshold for families in New York state to receive money for child care is set to increase this August.

The increase means more children will be eligible.

New York state also announced $2 billion in child care subsidies. That money will help to support low-income and working families as well as child care providers.

Thursday was the application deadline for people hoping to open new child care programs in New York. There were over 1.700 submissions.
