Increased patrols to start on Friday for Memorial Day weekend

ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — Gov.Andrew Cuomo announced that the STOP-DWI law enforcement period will begin on Friday, May 24 and run through Memorial Day, May 27.

The program is aimed at cracking down on reckless and impaired driving during the busy holiday weekend. Patrols will be increased throughout the weekend.

Troopers will be using both marked and unmarked cars during the crackdown.

Last year, 237 arrests were made for motorists drinking and driving during Memorial Day weekend.
