IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. (WHEC) — Irondequoit Police have arrested a woman in connection to a series of tip jar thefts at local eateries.

Marissa Stewart, 22, is charged with petit larceny for two alleged incidents — one at Ridge Donut and another at Thai Mii Up.

Police are also investigating similar cases at Cafe Sasso and Cheesy Eddie's in Rochester and Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters in Pittsford.

Several places captured the tip jar thefts on video. Employees say footage shows a man or woman come in and ask for a glass of water then takes the tip jar while the employee is distracted.

"Even though it wasn't a ton of money, it was the motive behind it, and just like taking money from people who work so hard," said Jackie Marcello, the manager and co-owner of Ridge Donut. "That was the most upsetting part about it."

Brighton Police are investigating if Stewart is connected to the tip jar thefts at Starbucks at the Twelve Corners on Tuesday and at Sabra Grill on Aug. 12.
