Jennifer Ly joined News10NBC in March 2021 as a reporter.

After working for a decade in Corporate America, Jenny decided to take a risk and pursue her dream of becoming a journalist.

She left her job at Merrill in Chicago, where she was the vice president of Capital Markets & Compliance, attended Northwestern University, and graduated with her second Master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism.

Jenny is a Colorado native, born to Vietnamese and Chinese parents who emigrated to the U.S. after the Vietnam War. Jenny considers herself worldly – not only did she travel extensively internationally for work, but she has also lived and studied abroad. Her higher education includes the University of Denver and Georgetown University, as well as time spent abroad at Beijing Foreign Studies University and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. She is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association. A fun fact that not many people know about her is that she received a Congressional nomination to the United States Military Academy.

Rochester/News10NBC is her first market, and she is very excited to hone her craft and discover all there is to know about Western New York.

If you have story ideas or want to say hello, email Jenny at, or find her on Twitter or Instagram
