Beleaguered city court judge Leticia Astacio has stopped showing up to work, an administrative judge tells News10NBC.
Judge Craig Doran tells News10NBC that Judge Astacio has not shown up to work and has not complied with conditions to be excused from her duties.
Astacio has not heard any cases since her arrest, but in July she returned to work performing assigned duties like legal research and reviewing default judgments and landlord/tenant issues.
She still collects a $174,000 salary.
Judge Doran says he is looking into "appropriate administrative action."
In response, Mark Young, attorney for Judge Astacio, says she has been relegated to working in a broom closet in the law library. Young adds that Astacio has been asked to do the work of law clerks and her secure pass to the building has been taken away.
On top of that, Young says Astacio has a medical condition that she is dealing with and she has sent a note to another supervising judge.
"Judge Doran knows what he has asked Astacio to do and that Judge Doran has taken a private matter and made it public," Young concludes.
