CHILI, N.Y. (WHEC) — A juvenile is facing multiple charges of robbery and assault after attacking a caseworker, stealing the keys to their car and fleeing in it, deputies say. While fleeing, the juvenile also struck the caseworker’s leg.

According to MCSO, deputies responded to the Chili Commons Apartments in the Town of Chili for the report of a stolen vehicle and assault on Jan. 20. It happened around 4 p.m.

Authorities say a foster care intake caseworker was placing a juvenile into foster care at the location when the assault happened.

The caseworker was transported to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The next day, RPD located the juvenile and stolen car on Fairbanks Street in the City of Rochester. The juvenile was taken into custody. Police also say that stolen property related to an incident that occurred in the Town of Greece the day before was located.

The juvenile has been charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree, Robbery in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree.

Authorities say the juvenile was arraigned in family court and placed in a secure detention center on $15,000 cash bail/$120,000 bond.

The juvenile had to be transported to a detention center in Syracuse due to lack of vacancy here locally.
